Dave Shipper
“I look at our natural world and see endless works of art. That is part of the reason I love landscape and nature photography. The camera allows me to capture things like the fleeting moments of beautiful light on a landscape, the wonders of the night sky unseen by the naked eye and images of amazing wildlife to share with others so they too can experience the beauty of a perhaps unseen moment. That’s powerful and incredibly rewarding.”
Dave Shipper is a professional photographer currently living in Savannah, Georgia. Enjoying and exploring many different photographic genre, he has a special interest in fine art landscapes.
Photography was a part of Dave’s family life growing up. His father loved photography and a home darkroom was a permanent fixture in the family home. Some of Dave’s earliest influences were time spent in the darkroom with his dad, taking pictures with his first camera, a Kodak Instamatic and the dramatic images of landscapes and wildlife from around the world in publications like National Geographic and Life Magazine.

Dave grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas, hiking, canoeing, hunting and fishing in the Ouachita Mountains. Developing a true love of nature and the environment, he chose to pursue a career outdoors and earned a BS in Wildlife Conservation from Louisiana Tech University. Never losing his passion for the camera, Dave later enrolled in The New York Institute of Photography and completed their course in professional photography.
In 1983, Dave and his wife Leigh moved to the Carolina Lowcountry where he worked in mid and upper level management and was a small business entrepreneur. He retired in 2014 to pursue his passion for photography full time. His photographs have won numerous awards and hang in private collections throughout the United States and in Europe. In addition to his work in fine art photography, Dave provides photography instruction, professional digital photo printing and fine art reproduction services.
