Kathy Miller has been a professional artist for over 40 years. She paints in oil and watercolors but spends most of her time on her etchings. Etchings are an ancient art form created by etching a design on a zinc plate with nitric acid. Kathy has designed over 200 plates which she prints on her etching press using handmade paper with feathered edges. Each one is an original piece of art. Kathy also loves painting landscapes in oil, featuring luminous, floating clouds in a realistic style. Her watercolors are often whimsical with transparent colors which she achieves through pouring the colors on wet paper and allowing them to mix and run, before finishing them with the addition of fairly realistic designs such as flowers or birds.
