The Hermitage Plantation, Circa 1820, c 1995

$175.00

The Hermitage This gracious neoclassical mansion was built by Henry McAlpin, a Scottish trained architect, builder and the most prominent owner of the Hermitage Plantation. Its history can be traced back to the Creek Indians and King George III. McAlpin purchased the land circa 1818's. Henry Ford purchased the Hermitage in the 30's despite out cries of Savannahians and moved it to Richmond Hill, Georgia where; to the indignation of the people reconstructed Andrew Jackson's Hermitage. From my research, I have enjoyed re-creating this colonial romantic period in our Southern history.
