Michelle Perez

Michelle A. Pérez is a Dominican-American visual artist working in a variety of media ranging from oil paints to gouache and embroidery. Drawing inspiration from her experience growing up in two different countries and seeing the contrast between simplicity and overabundance, she creates colorful works rich with marks and repetition. Her illustrative style playfully reflects a deep connection and curiosity for the natural world and color theory, often inspired by personal experiences and memories of encounters with plants, lands, and critters. By presenting the often overlooked environment in a new light, her art aims to connect the viewers with the natural world that they are part of.

Chel graduated in 2010 from Moore College Of Art & Design in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is now based in Savannah, GA.
