Tianova
Tatiana Sukhanova, artistically known as Tianova, was born in Kazakhstan and began her creative journey with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, followed by a Master of Fine Arts. In 1999, she moved to New York, immersing herself in the fashion industry while continuously nurturing her passion for painting.
Now based in Savannah, Tianova has found the perfect setting for her studio and gallery. Nestled in the heart of the city’s art district, Savannah’s historic architecture, vibrant culture, and rich atmosphere provide endless inspiration for her work.
Her cityscapes explore solitude and nostalgia, blending realism with a dreamlike quality. Working primarily in oil and metal leaf, she creates atmospheric compositions where light and shadow interact like memories unfolding across time. The reflective nature of metal leaf enhances the ethereal quality of her work, illuminating buildings and streetscapes as if they exist in a space between past and present.
Through a monochrome palette and the deliberate use of negative space, Tianova reduces the city to its essence—forms emerge and dissolve, as if suspended in time. The emptiness within her compositions is as significant as the structures themselves, inviting viewers to step in and complete the narrative with their own emotions and memories. Streets whisper with absence, and buildings hold echoes of untold stories, their silence as evocative as their presence.
Her paintings are not just depictions of place but meditations on time and perception. Cities become more than physical locations; they transform into vessels of memory, longing, and the intangible beauty of solitude.
