“The Flight of Dusk and Dawn” showcases an array of moths and butterflies alongside their host and feeding plants across North America. Each insect and plant is thoughtfully arranged to overlap the delicate, skeletal wing structure of a Cecropia Moth and Swallowtail Butterfly. This illustration aims to capture the balance and harmony nature creates, with insects and their caterpillars nestled among vibrant plants. When paired together, the illustrations elegantly merge, forming the larger, unified silhouette of the insect, symbolizing the seamless connection between day and night.
"The Flight of Dusk and Dawn" Includeds Two 22x30" orginial graphite and watercolor Illustrations and includes a White Nordic Oak custom frame. Each vintage inspired artwork starts among the sketchbook pages, literred with hand written notes and research that dive into the mytology, meaning, and stories of each of her subjects. From the sketch phase each artwork is transferred onto hot press watercolor paper to begin the stages of her process. Light layers of graphite and watercolor are then layered to create the vintage feeling that is seen. Erica Catherine dreams of her art being cherish for many years, ideally becoming heirlooms passed through generations.
