Japanese Water Carrier w/ Mexican Petunia Reeds Handle - Cherry Blossom Design - Raku remains porous & fragile - fired in an outdoor gas kiln to 1800 degrees - removed from the kiln & placed in a container with newspaper & leaves - container is closed & the piece left to smoke for 20 minutes - the piece is then removed from the container and set aside to cool - when cool the pottery is scrubbed with a mild abrasive to remove the excess carbon & it's now ready to enjoy
